Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss Sholei Pays Tribute to Raila Odinga: A Legacy of Courage and Sacrifice

Kenya’s Deputy Speaker and Uasin Gishu Women Representative, Gladys Boss Sholei, on Friday paid tribute to the late former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga as his body lay in state at the Parliament building.

Speaking from the precincts of the National Assembly — the very place where Raila served for decades — Sholei described his leadership as a symbol of courage, sacrifice, and resilience.

“Today, we received Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga back in the House he served with unwavering conviction,” said Deputy Speaker Sholei. “Standing before him within these halls is a reminder that leadership is measured not by titles, but by courage, sacrifice, and resilience.”

Sholei urged Kenyans to draw inspiration from Raila’s legacy, emphasizing the need for unity, purpose, and bold service to the nation.

“May his legacy continue to inspire unity, purpose, and bold service to our nation,” she said.

Raila Odinga’s body was accorded the rare honor of lying in state at Parliament, a privilege typically reserved for presidents, highlighting the high esteem in which he was held.

As Kenya mourns the loss of one of its most iconic political figures, Deputy Speaker Sholei and other leaders are calling on citizens to carry forward Raila’s vision of a united and democratic Kenya.
