KDF Announces 2025/2026 Recruitment Drive: Key Requirements Outlined
The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has officially announced the commencement of its 2025/2026 nationwide recruitment exercise, inviting eligible Kenyan youth to apply for positions in the military.
In a statement released through the Ministry of Defence, the KDF outlined a comprehensive list of requirements for those seeking to join the service, emphasizing integrity, physical fitness, and patriotism as core attributes for prospective recruits.
Mandatory Documents and Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must present the following documents during recruitment:

Original National Identity Card (ID)

Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE)

Any additional certificates, including diplomas or a death certificate (in case the applicant is an orphan)
Although not mandatory, a valid Certificate of Good Conduct will be considered an added advantage during the selection process.
To qualify, candidates must:

Be aged between 18 and 26 years

Have a KCSE mean grade of D (Plain) or above

Be free of any criminal record

Be physically and medically fit
Height and Weight Standards

Minimum height for both male and female candidates: 5 feet

Minimum weight for men: 54.5 kilograms

Minimum weight for women: 50 kilograms
Additionally, candidates with visible tattoos or any serious body injuries will be automatically disqualified. The KDF also reiterated that female applicants must not be pregnant at the start or during the training period.
Strict Vetting to Curb Fraud
The KDF has cautioned applicants against engaging with individuals or agents claiming to offer assistance in the recruitment process, reaffirming that the exercise is free and fair.“Recruitment into the KDF is purely on merit. Any form of bribery or canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification and legal action,” the Ministry of Defence emphasized.
The nationwide recruitment drive is expected to begin in the coming weeks, with specific dates and venues to be announced through official government channels.
