TENP Trainees Join Africa for SDGs Program in Rwanda to Champion Global Citizenship and Sustainable Development

In a remarkable step toward nurturing globally conscious leaders, trainees from The Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP) are currently participating in the Africa for SDGs – Global Citizenship Education program, hosted at the University of Rwanda in Kigali.

The program brings together young changemakers from across the continent to engage in transformative learning experiences focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), global citizenship, and ethical leadership.

This opportunity underscores TENP’s growing reputation as a leading institution in advancing not only technical and vocational education, but also social responsibility, leadership, and sustainable development.

“This program is a testament to TENP’s unwavering commitment to equipping our trainees with the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed to become responsible global citizens,” said a representative from the institution. “We believe that education should go beyond classrooms — it should inspire action, innovation, and empathy.”

The Africa for SDGs initiative is designed to empower participants to drive meaningful change within their communities by fostering critical thinking, cross-cultural collaboration, and problem-solving skills aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

As part of the training, TENP trainees will engage in workshops, community dialogues, field visits, and collaborative projects with their peers from other African nations. They will explore key topics such as climate action, peace and justice, gender equality, quality education, and inclusive economic growth.

The institution expressed pride in the selection of its students and optimism about the long-term impact of their participation.

“We look forward to seeing the positive impact our trainees will make in their communities and beyond as they return home equipped with tools and inspiration to lead change,” said  the Chief Principal Dr Charles Koech.

The Eldoret National Polytechnic has continued to champion values of innovation, inclusivity, and excellence, and this latest milestone reflects its broader vision to shape well-rounded graduates ready to tackle 21st-century challenges.
