Rising Insecurity Along Hawaii Kiplombe Road Raises Alarm Among Uasin Gishu Residents

Residents of Hawaii Kiplombe Road in Uasin Gishu County are living in fear following a sharp increase in criminal activities in recent weeks.

The once peaceful neighborhood has now become a hotspot for muggings and night-time robberies, with local residents pointing to the lack of street lighting as a key contributor to the growing insecurity.

The poorly lit road has reportedly turned into a safe haven for thugs who use the cover of darkness to target unsuspecting pedestrians and motorists. Residents claim that the situation has worsened in recent days, with some now fearing to leave their homes after dark.

Speaking on the matter, Kephas Ochieng, Vice-Chair of KANU Uasin Gishu County, called on local security agencies to take urgent action to restore order and ensure the safety of citizens.

“It has come to my attention that Hawaii Kiplombe Road has become a den for thugs. Insecurity has significantly increased in that area due to the lack of street lights. I call upon our security agencies to act swiftly, bring law and order, and smoke out those who are giving residents sleepless nights,” said Ochieng.

He further appealed to Hon. Sarah Malel, the area MCA and Deputy Speaker of the County Assembly, to prioritize the installation of street lights in the affected area.

“I urge our able MCA and Deputy Speaker, Hon. Sarah Malel, to consider allocating funds for street lighting along this road to help prevent further criminal activity. This simple intervention will go a long way in improving security for the people,” he added.
