TikToker Arrested for Inciting Violence Against Police
A TikTok content creator has been arrested for allegedly inciting violence against police officers and their families through a viral video posted on his social media account.
The suspect, identified as Godfrey Mwasiaga Kakan Maiyo, was apprehended by detectives after a manhunt led them to Kimathi House in Nairobi’s Central Business District. According to authorities, Maiyo was operating a low-profile office under the name LetaPeleka Logistics, where he was eventually arrested.
The controversial video, which sparked widespread concern online, reportedly contained inflammatory remarks urging violence against members of the police service. The National Police Service condemned the content, terming it dangerous and irresponsible.
Maiyo is currently in custody and undergoing processing as investigators prepare to present him in court. Charges are expected to include incitement to violence and misuse of a communications platform.
“We take such threats very seriously,” said a senior officer familiar with the case. “Incitement, especially through digital platforms, poses a real threat to national security and public order.”
The arrest comes amid heightened scrutiny of online content creators in Kenya, as authorities seek to curb the spread of hate speech and inflammatory rhetoric on social media platforms.
Maiyo’s TikTok account has since been taken down as investigations continue.
