Peter Njoroge had always believed in doing the right thing. A dedicated father, he worked long hours as a mechanic in Ruaka to support his son, Liam. Even when business was low and bills piled up, he made sure school fees were paid, food was on the table, and birthday cakes were cut — even if it meant sacrificing his own needs.

But in early June, things got tough. Work slowed, debts grew, and Liam’s school demanded urgent payment to avoid suspension. With no money in sight, Peter made a painful decision — he sold his only TV for 7,000 shillings. “It hurt,” he said, “but I couldn’t let my son be chased from school.”

He took the cash, went to the school in person, and proudly handed it over. But as he waited by the gate, something unexpected happened.

A teacher casually mentioned that Liam’s biological father had visited earlier that week.
