Ndindi Nyoro Among Leaders Reshuffled in Latest Parliamentary Committee Changes

Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro is among several lawmakers affected by the latest reshuffle in the National Assembly's departmental committees, as announced by Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.

In a formal notice issued to the House, Speaker Wetang’ula confirmed that Nyoro has been moved from the influential Budget and Appropriations Committee to the Diaspora Affairs and Migrant Workers Committee. This change is part of a broader reorganization aimed at realigning parliamentary roles and responsibilities.

“That, further to the resolution of the House of Wednesday, 5th March 2025, and Thursday, 6th March 2025, appointing members to various committees and pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order 175, this House further approves the appointment of the following members to the respective committees as specified hereunder,” Speaker Wetang’ula stated.

Under the new arrangement, Hon. Ndindi Nyoro, CBS, MP, will replace Hon. Sankaire Lea Sopiato in the Diaspora Affairs and Migrant Workers Committee. Meanwhile, Hon. (Dr.) Mugo Edwin Gichuki, MP, will take Nyoro’s place on the Budget and Appropriations Committee.

This reshuffle comes months after Nyoro was ousted as Chairperson of the Budget and Appropriations Committee in March, a position he held until Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi was appointed to replace him. Nyoro's removal from the chairmanship had sparked political debate at the time, given his prominent role in shaping national budgetary priorities.

Though no official reason has been given for the latest shift, political analysts suggest it may be part of broader strategic realignments within the ruling coalition and parliamentary leadership.
