Governor Dr. Bii Leads Residents in Mourning Mother to Edwin Bett
Uasin Gishu Governor H.E. Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim this afternoon led a high-profile delegation of leaders and residents in mourning the late Mama Constantine Jesoimo Lagat, who passed away recently after a short illness.
Mama Constantine, the wife of respected elder Mzee Michael Kibet Lagat, and mother to Mr. Edwin Bett — the former County Secretary in Uasin Gishu and current official at the Ministry of Interior — was remembered as a pillar of strength, grace, and faith.
Governor Bii visited the family’s home in Lemoru village, Ziwa Ward, Soy Sub County, to offer his condolences and stand in solidarity with the bereaved family.
“We have lost a mother, a matriarch, and a devout woman who embodied kindness, humility, and unwavering faith in God. Her legacy will live on through her family and the many lives she touched,” Governor Bii said during the visit.
He was accompanied by leaders from political, religious, and social spheres, including County Executive Committee Member for Roads, Dr. Abraham Serem, among others.
Mourners spoke of Mama Constantine's deep devotion to the church and her lasting impact on the community, describing her as a woman who radiated warmth and unity.
A fundraising event to support funeral arrangements is scheduled for this Sunday, while the burial will take place on Tuesday, August 6, at the family home in Lemoru.
