Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is mourning the loss of his beloved aunt, Gladys Gathoni Kahua, whose passing has brought deep sorrow to the Gachagua family and the broader community in Nyeri County.

In a heartfelt statement released this morning, Mr. Gachagua described his aunt as a pillar of strength, love, and wisdom whose absence leaves an irreplaceable void.

 “Today, I find myself at my lowest as we prepare to lay to rest my loving Aunt, Gladys Gathoni Kahua. The pain of this excruciating loss is hard to put into words. Gathoni was the only surviving aunt on my mother’s side, and her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled,” said Gachagua.

He continued to reflect on her enduring legacy and the role she played in shaping the family’s values through her kindness, grace, and quiet resilience.
