Dr. Ekrah Ndung’u Inspires Youth With Timeless Life Lessons

Dr. Ekrah Ndung’u, the Chairperson of the Kenya National Association of Private Colleges (KENAPCO), has delivered a powerful keynote address to young people, sharing timeless wisdom and practical guidance for navigating today’s volatile world.

Speaking passionately, Dr. Ndung’u emphasized the importance of knowing one’s worth, embracing failure as part of growth, and choosing courage over comfort. “You are not defined by your grades, your followers, or your income. Your value is intrinsic—act like it,” she told the youth, urging them to embrace self-compassion and resilience as they shape their personal and professional lives.

Her message focused on eight key lessons, including the need to ask questions rather than simply comply, surround oneself with uplifting peers, invest in lifelong skills such as financial literacy and emotional intelligence, and avoid rushing life’s journey. “You don’t need to have it all figured out by 25. Life unfolds in seasons—embrace each one,” she said.

Beyond individual growth, Dr. Ndung’u challenged young people to live with intention, remain spiritually grounded, and use their voices to drive positive change in their communities. “Your ideas can change the world, but start by solving problems in your own community,” she noted, calling on the youth to align success with personal values and purpose.

Dr. Ndung’u credited her mother for introducing her to faith, describing it as a strong anchor in turbulent times. “Be grounded in faith, young people. It is a great source of strength as you navigate life’s challenges,” she advised.

She concluded by reminding the youth that they are the authors of their own life stories. “You are the director of your life story, so live it the way you’d want to see it on the big screen. Remember, you hold the pen that is writing your future,” she said.

As Chairperson of KENAPCO, Dr. Ndung’u continues to champion youth empowerment and career development through private technical and vocational training institutions across the country.
