RIVATEX Management Meets TENP Team to Discuss Strategic Partnership for Textile Mill Operations
On June 26, 2025, Chief Principal Dr. Charles Koech, OGW, alongside the Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP) team, hosted a public participation forum with RIVATEX East Africa SEZ Ltd management. The meeting was held at the institution to deliberate on the onboarding of a strategic non-equity partner to lease, operate, maintain, and manage the RIVATEX textile mill and its associated property.
The RIVATEX delegation was led by Chairman Dr. Cleophas Lagat and Managing Director Stanley Bett, who presented their plans and proposals for the partnership aimed at revitalizing the textile mill and boosting regional economic growth.
Members of the public, including TENP representatives, actively participated in the discussions, offering valuable input and concerns regarding the partnership’s implementation.
During the session, the TENP team emphasized the importance of collaboration with RIVATEX on dual training initiatives. This would enable trainees to gain practical skills in line with the modularized Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Competency-Based Curriculum (CDACC), thereby enhancing the employability and technical expertise of future graduates.
Dr. Charles Koech, TENP Chief principal expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential to create employment opportunities, enhance skills development, and foster sustainable industrial growth in the region.
“This collaboration marks a significant step towards revitalizing the textile sector while providing hands-on training opportunities for our TVET trainees. It is a win-win for both education and industry,” said Dr. Koech.
RIVATEX management reaffirmed their commitment to a transparent and mutually beneficial partnership that would restore the textile mill’s operations while aligning with national development goals.
