The discovery of two bodies in Soin area, Nakuru County, has sparked outrage and fear among residents, with families of the victims alleging that the murders are linked to the ongoing investigation into the killing of Catholic priest Father Allois Bett.

The deceased—identified as Simeon Yego and Collins Kipyatich—were found dead under suspicious circumstances, days after being abducted by unknown individuals in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

According to the victims' families, Collins Kipyatich, 22, was the first to be abducted while on his way to Tot Health Center for a medical check-up. Later that same day, Simeon Yego was reportedly kidnapped while making deliveries near Tot Primary School. His brother, Wilfred Yego, said that armed individuals pulled Simeon from his Probox vehicle and forced him into an ambulance.

“A female passenger who was in the car said one of the abductors drove the car behind the ambulance and kept interrogating her about the people behind the murder of Father Allois Bett,” Wilfred recounted.

The passenger was eventually released near the Baringo-Elgeyo Marakwet border, where she was picked up by a military vehicle and dropped at Tot Center. The families believe at least one of the abductors was a police officer.

In a harrowing account, Wilfred revealed that both victims showed signs of extreme torture. “Their hands were severed, there were marks indicating they were strangled, and their legs had been tied,” he said, adding that the bodies had been dumped far from their homes.

While the families believe the brutal killings are connected to the murder of Father Bett, Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Abdi Hassan dismissed the claims, saying the priest's murder remains under investigation and that no link has been officially established.

The gruesome killings have heightened concerns about extrajudicial actions and the slow pace of justice in sensitive cases. The families are calling for an independent probe to determine the truth behind the abductions and killings.
