Two Suspects Arrested, Cannabis Worth Millions Seized in Limuru Drug Bust

Two suspects were arrested and a massive consignment of cannabis sativa seized on Tuesday following a successful intelligence-led operation by a multi-agency security team in Limuru subcounty.

The operation, spearheaded by detectives from the Transnational Organized Crime and Anti-Narcotics units, in collaboration with officers from the Mutarakwa Police Post, intercepted a white Toyota Noah along the Maai Mahiu–Nairobi road. The vehicle, bearing registration number KCX 728Q, was found to be ferrying nine large sacks — each weighing approximately 90 kilograms — of the illegal substance.

According to police sources, the vehicle was being driven by 37-year-old Minja Jimmy, accompanied by his alleged accomplice and age-mate, Bernard Nyabero Nyakangi. Upon stopping the vehicle, officers discovered the cargo stashed in the boot, concealed beneath black polythene sheets in a bid to evade detection.

The suspects, along with the recovered narcotics and the vehicle, were escorted to the Mutarakwa Police Post for booking before being transferred to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters in Nairobi for further processing and arraignment.

Authorities lauded the swift and coordinated response, emphasizing the government's continued crackdown on drug trafficking. Investigations are ongoing to establish the origin and intended destination of the illicit haul.
