Kapseret Member of Parliament Hon. Oscar Sudi on Saturday hosted a delegation of leaders from Kirinyaga County Assembly, Nominated MP Hon. Joseph Wainaina, and members of the Uasin Gishu County Assembly at his dairy farm in Kapseret, in a visit that blended agriculture, leadership, and cross-county collaboration.
Led by Kirinyaga County Assembly Speaker Muteti Murimi and Uasin Gishu Majority Leader Hon. Julius Sang, the visiting leaders toured the farm to learn more about modern dairy farming practices and engage in conversations around agribusiness as a driver of economic transformation.
Speaking during the visit, MP Sudi emphasized his deep personal connection to farming, calling it a lifelong passion that continues to ground and inspire him despite his active political life.
“While politics may be my first calling, farming is where my heart truly lies,” he said. “It’s more than a livelihood — it’s a way of life. This farm represents not just hard work, but possibility — the idea that anyone can build something from the ground up.”
The leaders engaged in lively discussions around livestock management, dairy production, and the need to support smallholder farmers with better access to markets, training, and technology. They also explored the broader role of agriculture in job creation, particularly for youth, and called for more policies that support agribusiness at the grassroots level.
“This visit is about more than just farming — it’s about unity and learning from one another,” said Speaker Murimi. “We’ve seen firsthand how agribusiness can be run efficiently and profitably. There’s a lot counties can do when we come together and share ideas.”
MP Sudi echoed that sentiment, noting that agriculture holds untapped potential to transform communities. “If we empower our youth and support our farmers, we don’t just feed a nation — we build one,” he said.
The visit concluded with a shared meal and informal interactions between the leaders and farm workers, underscoring the close-knit community spirit that defines the Kapseret constituency.
The event highlighted the growing interest among policymakers in championing farming not just as a tradition, but as a strategic economic pillar in Kenya’s future — one that cuts across politics, generations, and county boundaries.
