Marius Kemboi Mourns Centenarian Gogo Ann Kogo, Celebrates Her Legacy of Faith and Wisdom
Marius Kemboi has paid tribute to his late grandmother, Gogo Ann Kogo, who lived for more than 100 years, describing her as a strong Catholic whose life was defined by faith, wisdom and love for her family.
In an emotional message celebrating her life, Kemboi said the family was grateful for the long life she lived and the legacy she leaves behind, noting that she passed on peacefully.
He recalled the special moments they shared whenever he visited her, saying her wise counsel, humour and joyful conversations made her a memorable figure in the family.
Kemboi also remembered how his grandmother took a keen interest in his broadcasting career at Sayare FM 98.7, where she enjoyed listening to him on radio.
He revealed that she would often make jokes about his age based on the topics he discussed during his broadcasts, moments that brought laughter and strengthened their bond.
"She was happy to listen to me on radio 98.7 Sayare FM and she made a joke of my age with what I was broadcasting on that day," he recalled.
While acknowledging the pain of losing her, Kemboi said the family chooses to celebrate her remarkable life rather than dwell on the loss.
He described Gogo Ann Kogo as an icon worth remembering, whose longevity, strong Catholic faith, wisdom and cheerful personality will remain an inspiration to generations of her family.
