RVTTI DISMISSES FAKE LION ESCAPE MEMO CIRCULATING ONLINE
Rift Valley Technical Training Institute (RVTTI) has dismissed as fake a security memorandum circulating on social media claiming that a lion had escaped from a neighbouring facility.
In an internal memo dated July 2, 2026, the institution said the document did not originate from its management or security department, urging trainees, staff and members of the neighbouring community to disregard the misleading information.
“The document currently circulating on social media and other online platforms purporting to be an official RVTTI security memorandum regarding a lion escape from a neighboring facility is fake,” the memo stated.
The institution warned that the false communication could cause unnecessary fear and panic among students, employees, visitors and residents living around the Eldoret-based training institute.
RVTTI said it remains committed to the safety and well-being of its trainees, staff, visitors and the surrounding community, adding that all official communication on security matters and emergencies would only be issued through its recognised channels.
The memo, signed by Principal and Secretary to the Board Loice Kutoh, appealed to the public to stop sharing or forwarding the alleged security alert.
Members of the public seeking clarification on security-related information have been advised to contact the institution through its official telephone line, 0704 244 244,.
