NCPB Shines at Nakuru ASK Show, Bags Three Major Awards for Boosting Food Security

The National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) has emerged among the top performers at the Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Nakuru National Show after winning three major awards in recognition of its contribution to food security, agricultural productivity and public service delivery.

NCPB Chief Executive Officer CPA Samuel K. Ndung’u received the trophy for the Best Government Social Functions Stand during the official opening of the annual Nakuru National Show.

The award was presented by the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Hon. Sen. Mutahi Kagwe, who also visited the NCPB exhibition stand and commended the Board for its role in implementing the Government’s subsidized fertilizer programme.

During the visit, CS Kagwe lauded NCPB for efficiently coordinating fertilizer distribution to farmers across the country, saying the programme remains key in reducing production costs and improving food production.

The Board plays a critical role in strengthening Kenya’s food security through the distribution of subsidized fertilizer, grain storage services and post-harvest management support for farmers.

Apart from winning the Best Government Social Functions Stand award, NCPB also scooped the Best Medium Trade Stand in the Commercial and Industrial category.

The Board further emerged second in the Best Agricultural-Based Statutory Board Stand category, adding to its growing list of recognitions at the national exhibition.

NCPB thanked members of the public, farmers, partners and stakeholders who visited its stand during the Nakuru ASK Show, saying the interaction provided an important opportunity to share information on its services and programmes.

The Board said it remains committed to engaging farmers and the public in future ASK shows and exhibitions as it continues supporting agricultural development, food security and improved farmer incomes across the country.

The awards highlight NCPB’s continued efforts to deliver quality services to farmers while supporting the government’s broader agenda of enhancing agricultural productivity and ensuring stable food supplies.
