MURKOMEN WARNS GACHAGUA OVER OL KALOU REMARKS, VOWS TO CRACK DOWN ON VIOLENCE
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has issued a stern warning to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of engaging in what he termed "gimmicks and juvenile attempts at reverse psychology" amid heightened political tensions ahead of the Ol Kalou by-election.
Speaking during a public address, Murkomen warned that the government would not tolerate any attempts to incite violence or recruit criminal gangs for political purposes.
"Mr Rigathi Gachagua, we know your gimmicks and juvenile attempts at reverse psychology. Try violence in Ol Kalou and you will see," Murkomen declared.
The Interior CS also cautioned members of the public against responding to any calls to engage in violence, saying security agencies were closely monitoring individuals suspected of mobilising youths to disrupt peace.
"To anyone being recruited to violence by Mr Gachagua, keep off because the consequences will be dire," he warned.
Murkomen maintained that the government remains committed to ensuring law and order during the politically charged Ol Kalou by-election, stressing that anyone found planning or financing violence would face the full force of the law.
His remarks come as political competition intensifies in Ol Kalou, where parties are gearing up for a closely watched parliamentary by-election following the death of the area's Member of Parliament. The contest has attracted significant national attention and is widely viewed as a major political test ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The latest exchange adds to the growing war of words between Murkomen and Gachagua, with both leaders trading accusations over security, political mobilisation and the conduct of their supporters in recent weeks.
