Kenya Eyes AI-Powered Tourism Revolution as Cabinet Committee Meets
Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has said Kenya is positioning itself to harness Artificial Intelligence to transform tourism, hospitality and other key sectors of the economy.
Miano made the remarks after participating in a Joint Committee of Cabinet meeting chaired by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, where leaders assessed the country’s preparedness for the fast-changing technological landscape.
The meeting explored strategic ways of adopting and leveraging Artificial Intelligence across government programmes and economic sectors to support national development.
According to the Tourism CS, AI presents major opportunities for the tourism and hospitality industry, including improving visitor experiences, strengthening data-driven marketing and helping tourism players better understand travellers’ needs.
“Integrating AI presents unprecedented opportunities—from optimizing visitor experiences to smart data-driven marketing,” Miano said.
She added that the government is working to align policy and programme interventions to ensure Artificial Intelligence supports Kenya’s present and future national interests.
The move comes as countries around the world increasingly adopt AI tools to improve service delivery, enhance destination marketing, analyse travel trends and create more personalised experiences for tourists.
Kenya’s tourism sector remains a major contributor to the economy, and the government is now looking at digital innovation as a key driver in boosting competitiveness, attracting more visitors and supporting growth in the hospitality industry.
