Eldoret City ‘Locked In’ as Kenya Kwanza Leaders Rally Support for Ruto’s Two-Term Bid
Eldoret City came alive on Saturday as thousands of supporters, party officials and leaders gathered at Silverline Grounds for a major political rally that saw Kenya Kwanza leaders make a renewed push for unity and support for President William Ruto’s re-election in 2027.
The rally, which drew a massive crowd from Uasin Gishu County and neighbouring parts of the Rift Valley, was led by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and brought together senior leaders from both the National Assembly and the Senate.
Among those present were National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Boss Shollei, presidential aide Farouk Kibet and several Members of Parliament, county leaders, party officials and grassroots mobilisers.
Speaking after the event, Shollei described the gathering as a powerful and unmistakable statement of unity, saying Eldoret residents had demonstrated their confidence in President Ruto’s leadership and development agenda.
“Eldoret City is completely locked in,” Shollei said, adding that the Silverline mega-rally had sent a clear message that the region remained firmly behind the President and his administration.
The Woman Representative said the large turnout reflected the growing support for the Kenya Kwanza administration’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, which focuses on improving livelihoods through investments in agriculture, affordable housing, infrastructure, healthcare, education, job creation and support for small and medium-sized enterprises.
According to Shollei, the leaders attending the rally spoke with one voice on the need to protect the unity of the ruling coalition and strengthen grassroots mobilisation across the country ahead of the next General Election.
She said the gathering was not merely a political show of strength, but also an opportunity for leaders to engage with citizens, listen to their concerns and reaffirm the government’s commitment to delivering on the promises made during the 2022 election campaigns.
“The collective leadership stands solid and the ground is firm. The people are fully rallying behind President William Ruto’s vision for a definitive two-term mandate,” Shollei said.
Speaker Wetang’ula, Majority Leaders Ichung’wah and Cheruiyot, alongside Farouk Kibet, were received by enthusiastic supporters who waved party colours, sang and danced as leaders took to the stage to address the crowd.
The leaders called on Kenyans to remain united and avoid divisive politics, arguing that the country needed stability, peace and focused leadership to sustain economic growth and accelerate development projects.
They also urged residents of Uasin Gishu and the wider Rift Valley region to continue supporting the government’s programmes, saying the administration was laying a foundation for long-term transformation through strategic investments in key sectors.
The rally came amid heightened political activity across the country as Kenya Kwanza leaders intensify mobilisation efforts and seek to consolidate support for President Ruto’s second-term bid.
For Eldoret, a city widely viewed as one of the political strongholds of President Ruto, the Silverline gathering served as a major display of loyalty and organisational strength.
Shollei said the message from the people was clear: Eldoret City and the wider Uasin Gishu County are ready to stand with President Ruto as he continues implementing his development agenda and prepares to seek another term in office.
The leaders vowed to continue traversing the country to popularise government programmes, rally support for Kenya Kwanza and ensure that communities remain informed about ongoing projects and opportunities under the national government.
As the crowd dispersed from Silverline Grounds, the mood remained charged, with supporters expressing optimism that the unity displayed by the leadership would translate into stronger political organisation and continued development across the region.
