TOURISM CS REBECCA MIANO REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO PRESIDENT RUTO'S VISION FOR KENYA'S TOURISM TRANSFORMATION

Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Rebecca Miano, has reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to implementing President William Samoei Ruto's vision of transforming Kenya into a leading global tourism destination through strategic reforms, innovation, and sustainable conservation.

Speaking on the government's progress in the tourism sector, Miano praised President Ruto's leadership, saying his vision continues to inspire bold initiatives that are reshaping Kenya's tourism and wildlife industries.

Quoting leadership expert John C. Maxwell, who said, "A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way," the Cabinet Secretary noted that the President's leadership has laid a strong foundation for the sector's continued growth.

She said the government is working towards its ambitious target of attracting five million international visitors annually by 2027 while diversifying tourism products beyond traditional safari experiences. According to Miano, the Ministry is expanding investment in Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism, cultural tourism, and other high-value niche markets to increase Kenya's global competitiveness.

The Cabinet Secretary also highlighted ongoing improvements to the Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) system, saying the reforms are making travel to Kenya easier, enhancing visitor experience, and strengthening the country's position as a preferred international destination.

On wildlife conservation, Miano said President Ruto's administration continues to modernize the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) while introducing digital anti-leakage systems aimed at improving accountability, protecting biodiversity, and safeguarding Kenya's natural heritage.

She emphasized that the government's conservation strategy seeks to balance environmental protection with community empowerment by ensuring communities living alongside wildlife directly benefit from conservation efforts and sustainable tourism initiatives.

Miano reaffirmed that the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife remains committed to driving sustainable growth, creating jobs, attracting investment, and positioning Kenya as the "Origin of Wonder" and one of the world's most sought-after travel destinations.

She expressed confidence that continued reforms, strategic investments, and strong partnerships will further strengthen the tourism sector, enabling it to make an even greater contribution to Kenya's economic growth and the livelihoods of millions of citizens.
