Ziwa Hospital Theatre Upgrade Delivers Surge in Life-Saving Surgeries Under Governor Bii’s Health Drive

Ziwa Sub-County Hospital is witnessing a major boost in surgical care following the operationalization and strengthening of its theatre services, a key milestone under Jonathan Bii’s Nguzo Kumi development agenda.

County Chief Officer for Clinical Services Ambrose Tarus said the improvements mark a significant step toward expanding access to quality and affordable healthcare closer to residents.

Speaking during a visit to the facility, Tarus noted that the upgraded theatre has already reduced referrals to distant hospitals, improved emergency response, and strengthened surgical capacity within the sub-county.

He emphasized that the health pillar of the Nguzo Kumi manifesto continues to focus on infrastructure development, medical equipment upgrades, and strengthening human resource capacity to improve service delivery across Uasin Gishu County.

“The operational theatre at Ziwa Sub-County Hospital is a clear demonstration of our commitment to ensuring residents access timely and quality healthcare services,” he said.

The facility has already recorded notable progress, successfully carrying out eight Caesarean section procedures since the theatre became fully operational—an achievement officials say is a major boost to maternal health services in the region.

Clinical Services Deputy Director Crispus Massam reaffirmed the county’s commitment to transforming healthcare delivery, noting that ongoing investments are aligned with the broader Nguzo Kumi agenda aimed at improving residents’ well-being.

During the visit, officials also inspected ongoing construction works at Ziwa Level V Hospital, expressing optimism that the upgraded facility will significantly expand access to specialized medical services once completed.

Hospital management and staff were also engaged on strategies to improve patient experience, enhance efficiency, and strengthen overall service delivery as the county continues its healthcare transformation push.
