Tears, Pain and Tough Questions: Leaders Visit Families of Utumishi Girls as Nation Demands Justice

Gilgil Town MP Hon. Martha Wangare today joined friends, colleagues and grieving families in mourning the young girls who lost their lives in the heartbreaking Utumishi School tragedy.

Among those present was a close friend and colleague of the legislator, who described the visit as emotional, painful and deeply personal — especially as a parent.

The delegation spent the day comforting devastated parents whose lives have been shattered by the sudden loss of their daughters. Tears flowed freely as mothers and fathers struggled to come to terms with a tragedy that has left the nation in shock.

Speaking after the visit, the leaders called for a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident, insisting that the country must move beyond condolences and uncover the real causes behind the tragedy.

“As a parent, this pain is unimaginable. No mother or father should ever have to bury their child,” one leader said. “We must get to the root cause of this tragedy so that no other family ever experiences this kind of heartbreak again.”

Hon. Martha Wangare echoed the sentiments of the grieving families, assuring them that their cries for justice and accountability would not be ignored.

The sombre visit highlighted the growing public concern over student safety and the urgent need for stronger measures to protect children in learning institutions.

Across the country, Kenyans continue to mourn the young lives lost too soon, while calls grow louder for truth, accountability and lasting reforms.

For the affected families, however, the pain remains raw — a painful reminder that behind every headline is a child whose dreams were cut short, and parents whose lives will never be the same again.
