Rigathi Gachagua Hails Sammy Kamau Ngotho After DCP Olkalou Primaries Victory
Democratic Change Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has congratulated Sammy Kamau Ngotho following his victory in the party primaries for the Olkalou Parliamentary seat after garnering 12,957 votes.
In a statement issued after the exercise, Gachagua praised the conduct of the nominations, describing them as a clear demonstration that the DCP is committed to democracy, transparency, and the will of the people.
“This contest has demonstrated to the people of Kenya that our party is a free and democratic space for all. It is the voice of the Kenyan people that we listen to,” Gachagua said.
He noted that the party remains committed to open democratic processes, emphasizing that party members are the true owners of the movement and have the sole mandate to choose leaders of their preference.
The DCP leader thanked residents of Olkalou for turning out in large numbers to participate in the exercise and lauded party members for maintaining peace throughout the voting process.
“To the thousands of our party members who came out to vote, we thank you for believing in our party and keeping peace during the entire process,” he stated.
Gachagua also extended appreciation to candidates who lost in the nominations, commending them for accepting the outcome and pledging support for the winner.
“For those who did not make it, you are our true heroes for participating in the contest and agreeing to support the winner. Your place in the party remains secure, and I encourage you to continue playing an active role in campaigning for the party’s candidate,” he added.
He further praised the National Elections Board for what he termed meticulous planning that ensured a smooth and transparent nomination exercise.
According to Gachagua, the primaries are already being hailed as among the most organized and transparent party nominations witnessed since the return of multi-party democracy in Kenya in 1992.
The DCP leader also commended election officials, including the Returning Officer, Presiding Officers, Polling Clerks, and the Party Secretary General together with his staff, for their logistical coordination and professionalism during the exercise.
At the same time, he thanked the National Police Service in Nyandarua County for providing security at polling stations, the tallying centre, and across the constituency to maintain law and order.
“The police lived up to their motto of ‘Utumishi Kwa Wote,’ and I pray this will be replicated on polling day on July 16, 2026, and across the country as we prepare for the General Elections next year,” he said.
Gachagua concluded by once again congratulating Sammy Kamau Ngotho and wished him success ahead of the July 16, 2026 polls.
