Ben Ben Declares 2027 Bid for Mosop MP Seat as Political Realignments Begin in Nandi
Bernard Kiplimo, popularly known as Ben Ben and currently serving as personal assistant to Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim, has officially signaled his intention to contest the Mosop Parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election, marking his entry into elective politics after years of service in county administration and political coordination.
Ben Ben, who has been a close aide within the county leadership circle, is now shifting focus to grassroots mobilisation in Nandi County, where he intends to challenge for the parliamentary seat as early political competition begins to take shape ahead of 2027.
Speaking through his allies and during recent engagements with supporters, he expressed confidence that his experience working closely with senior leadership in Uasin Gishu has prepared him for national legislative responsibilities, particularly in representing the interests of residents at the constituency level.
He said his decision to vie is informed by what he described as a desire to strengthen representation for ordinary citizens, improve development priorities in Mosop, and ensure closer coordination between national government programmes and local needs.
Political observers say his entry into the race adds a new dimension to the Mosop political landscape, where aspirants are already positioning themselves through early outreach programmes, community meetings and development-focused engagements.
His association with Governor Chelilim’s administration is expected to play a key role in shaping his political brand, with supporters viewing him as a young, energetic and well-connected aspirant capable of mobilising resources and building networks across the region.
However, analysts also note that the Mosop parliamentary race is likely to attract multiple contenders, setting the stage for a highly competitive contest shaped by party dynamics, regional alliances and grassroots support structures.
Ben Ben is expected to formally launch his political campaign in the coming months, where he will unveil his development agenda, campaign team and constituency priorities, including youth empowerment, education support, infrastructure development and job creation initiatives.
He has also been engaging with community leaders, opinion shapers and youth groups in informal consultations as part of early groundwork to consolidate support ahead of the official campaign period.
His announcement adds to a growing wave of political movements across the Rift Valley, as aspirants across various constituencies begin aligning themselves in anticipation of shifting political alliances ahead of the 2027 polls.
As the political temperature gradually rises, all eyes will be on how Ben Ben transitions from a behind-the-scenes administrative role to an active contender in one of Nandi County’s closely watched parliamentary races.
