ANNUAL ELDORET CATHOLIC DIOCESAN YCS RALLY AND FLAG DAY HELD AT MINOR SEMINARY, ELDORET

The Annual Eldoret Catholic Diocesan Young Christian Students (YCS) Rally and Flag Day was successfully held at the Minor Seminary in Eldoret, bringing together students, teachers, chaplains, and church leaders from Catholic-sponsored secondary schools across the Diocese of Eldoret.

Speaking during the event, Uasin Gishu KUPPET Executive Secretary Elijah Maiyo lauded the Catholic Church for its continued commitment to nurturing young people through spiritual formation, leadership development, and moral guidance. He noted that such gatherings play a critical role in shaping responsible and disciplined future leaders.

Maiyo urged students to embrace integrity, hard work, and respect for one another while pursuing academic excellence. He challenged the youth to remain focused on their education and uphold Christian values in an increasingly complex social environment.

"The future of our nation lies in the hands of young people. As students, you must cultivate discipline, honesty, and a spirit of service to society. Education and strong moral values are the foundation for personal success and national development," said Maiyo.

The rally featured prayer sessions, motivational talks, group discussions, and interactive activities aimed at strengthening the faith and leadership skills of the participants. The Flag Day ceremony served as a symbol of unity, commitment, and dedication to the ideals of the Young Christian Students movement.

Church leaders and educators also encouraged students to resist negative influences, embrace positive peer relationships, and actively participate in community service initiatives. They emphasized the importance of becoming ambassadors of peace, justice, and social responsibility in their schools and communities.

Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to interact with fellow students from different schools while deepening their spiritual understanding and leadership abilities.

The event concluded with prayers and a renewed commitment by students to live according to Christian principles and contribute positively to society.

"The YCS movement remains an important platform for nurturing morally upright, spiritually grounded, and socially responsible young people," Maiyo added.
