**“Waruguru Calls for Dialogue as Public Turnout Signals Growing Demand for Accountability”**
Former Laikipia Woman Representative Cate Waruguru has raised concerns over the current political climate following recent public gatherings that attracted large crowds across different parts of the country.
According to Waruguru, the emergence of what she termed “alternative leadership” has sparked significant public interest, with citizens turning out in large numbers. She described the turnout as a reflection of growing public engagement in national affairs and a signal of the direction many citizens believe the country should take.
Waruguru noted that the gatherings demonstrated widespread demand for change, accountability, and improved governance. She said the participation of citizens from both urban and rural areas highlighted what she described as increasing dissatisfaction with the status quo.
However, she also criticized the response from authorities, alleging that security agencies used forceful methods to disperse crowds, including the use of tear gas. She argued that such actions risk escalating tensions rather than addressing the underlying concerns being raised by members of the public.
Despite these developments, Waruguru maintained that public resolve remains strong. She said citizens continue to express their demands for accountability and respect for democratic space, adding that intimidation would not deter them from speaking out.
She further emphasized the need for dialogue and restraint, urging leaders to prioritize stability and national cohesion. According to her, the country requires what she termed “sanity, accountability, and leadership that respects its people.”
Waruguru concluded by calling for peaceful engagement between citizens and those in authority, stating that sustainable solutions can only be achieved through listening and constructive dialogue rather than confrontation.
