Patrick Karinga Munuhe has been re-elected unopposed as the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) National Chairman for a second term, reaffirming his strong influence and support within the teachers’ union.

The announcement was made during the union’s electoral process, where no other candidate came forward to challenge his leadership, effectively securing him another term at the helm without contest.

Speaking after the confirmation, Munuhe expressed gratitude to KNUT members for the continued trust and confidence in his leadership. He pledged to intensify efforts in championing teachers’ welfare, professional development, and improved working conditions across the country.

“I am deeply honored by the faith that teachers have shown in me. This unopposed election is a clear indication of unity within our union. I remain committed to serving diligently and ensuring that the voices of teachers are heard,” said Munuhe.

During his previous term, Munuhe played a key role in advocating for better remuneration, timely promotions, and policy reforms in the education sector. His leadership also saw increased engagement between KNUT and the government on critical issues affecting teachers.

Education stakeholders have welcomed his re-election, expressing optimism that continuity in leadership will help strengthen ongoing negotiations and reforms within the sector.

KNUT officials noted that the smooth and uncontested election reflects stability within the union, at a time when teachers continue to face evolving challenges in the education landscape.

Munuhe is expected to outline his agenda for the new term in the coming weeks, with focus areas likely to include teachers’ welfare, union unity, and constructive engagement with the Ministry of Education.
