Fourth Contingent of Kenyan Police Officers Returns from Haiti Mission

The fourth contingent of 150 officers from the National Police Service has returned to the country following deployment to Haiti under the Kenya-led Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti.

The officers arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Tuesday, marking another phase in Kenya’s ongoing contribution to restoring stability in the Caribbean nation.

The team was led by Gilbert Masengeli, Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service, who had earlier traveled to Haiti for high-level engagements with local authorities and mission leadership.

Upon arrival, the officers were received by Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, alongside National Security Advisor Joseph Boinett and Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service Eliud Lagat, among other senior security officials.

The returning contingent is part of Kenya’s broader commitment to the multinational effort aimed at supporting Haiti’s security institutions in combating gang violence and restoring public order.

Kenya has played a leading role in the mission, deploying several batches of officers to assist in stabilizing the country amid escalating insecurity. The mission has drawn international attention as a test case for African-led peace support operations beyond the continent.

Officials welcomed the officers back, commending their service and dedication in representing the country in a complex international security environment.

The return of the contingent comes as rotations continue within the mission, ensuring sustained operational capacity while allowing deployed officers to return home after completing their assignments.
