Police Intensify Crackdown on Illicit Brew and Drugs in Uasin Gishu
Police officers in Uasin Gishu County have intensified operations targeting the production and distribution of illicit alcohol and prohibited substances in a renewed effort to curb substance abuse and enhance public safety.
In a recent operation conducted in the Jua-Kali Centre area of Turbo Sub-County, officers recovered approximately 70 litres of chang’aa believed to belong to suspected illegal brewers and distributors. Several suspects were arrested during the exercise on charges related to possession and distribution of illicit brew and other drug-related offences.
According to authorities, the suspects are currently in police custody awaiting arraignment in court. The confiscated alcohol has been secured and documented as exhibits to support ongoing investigations and subsequent legal proceedings.
The operation forms part of the National Police Service’s sustained nationwide crackdown on illicit brews and narcotics, which continue to pose significant threats to public health, community safety, and social stability. Law enforcement officials have reiterated their commitment to dismantling illegal alcohol networks and ensuring compliance with the law.
Police have urged members of the public to cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities linked to illegal brewing and drug trafficking.
