“No Child Left Behind: KNESWO and DADA KIPEPEO Shine Light on Forgotten Children of Sex Workers”

In a powerful show of solidarity and compassion, KNESWO Feminist Initiative has partnered with DADA KIPEPEO to deliver essential supplies to children of sex workers—an often overlooked group facing deep social and economic challenges.

The outreach, conducted yesterday, went beyond the distribution of basic needs. It brought visibility to a population that frequently falls through the cracks of conventional support systems, particularly in migrant and refugee communities where vulnerability is heightened.

KNESWO, a refugee and migrant-led feminist platform, has long championed the rights and dignity of marginalized groups, with a focus on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Their collaboration with DADA KIPEPEO reflects a shared mission to address inequality through inclusive, community-led action.

At the forefront of this initiative is Phelister Abdalla, whose leadership continues to drive impactful, people-centered advocacy. Her approach underscores the importance of tackling both visible hardships and the hidden struggles that shape the lives of vulnerable families.

DADA KIPEPEO, a grassroots initiative led by children of sex workers, is redefining advocacy by placing affected children at the center of its work. These children often face stigma, limited access to education, and social exclusion, yet remain resilient in the face of adversity.

Organizers emphasized that supporting children of sex workers—especially those from migrant backgrounds—is critical to breaking cycles of poverty and marginalization. “When a mother is vulnerable, her child is even more at risk,” noted one organizer, highlighting the urgency of targeted interventions.

Through this joint effort, dozens of children not only received essential items but were also affirmed in their dignity and worth—an act organizers say is just as important as material support.

The partnership signals a growing shift toward inclusive programming that recognizes the interconnected realities of migration, gender inequality, and economic hardship. Both organizations expressed commitment to expanding such initiatives in the future.

As KNESWO and DADA KIPEPEO continue their work, their message remains clear: every child matters—and building a just society begins by ensuring none are left behind.
