My name is Lilian, and I come from Kakamega. I started my small salon business with a lot of hope, believing that it would help me support my family and become financially independent. I invested the little money I had in buying salon equipment, renting a small room, and decorating it to attract customers. In the beginning, I believed that once the salon opened, clients would automatically come, but things turned out to be very different from what I expected.

For several months, my salon had almost no customers, and most days I would sit from morning to evening without attending to even one client. The few customers who came would only do small services like simple hair plaiting, which brought very little profit. Meanwhile, rent, electricity bills, and daily expenses kept increasing, and I started feeling stressed because the business was not generating enough income to sustain itself.

As time went on, the situation became worse because other salons around me were doing better and attracting more customers. I tried reducing prices and improving my services, but still, people preferred other salons. There were days when I thought of closing the business and looking for another job because it seemed like my efforts were not paying off.
