KISE Conducts Accessibility Audit at Kahawa Garrison School
The Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE), under the leadership of Director General Dr. Norman Kiogora Stephen, today oversaw an accessibility audit at Kahawa Garrison School. The audit was conducted in collaboration with the Military Wives Association of Kenya (MWAK) on the school’s newly constructed therapy block.
The facility, developed by MWAK, is designed to support learners with special needs in the school’s special unit. During the exercise, the KISE team meticulously assessed the space, providing expert recommendations to enhance safety, accessibility, and usability for all learners.
Dr. Kiogora Stephen reaffirmed KISE’s commitment to working closely with partners to ensure that facilities for learners with special needs meet the highest standards. “Inclusive education requires that every learning environment is safe, accessible, and functional,” he noted. “Our role is to ensure that these facilities not only meet regulatory standards but also create supportive spaces where every child can thrive.”
The collaboration underscores ongoing efforts to advance inclusive education in Kenya and improve learning environments for children with diverse abilities. Through strategic partnerships and technical guidance, KISE continues to champion accessibility, equity, and quality in education for all learners.
