Zamzam Mohamed Launches Sanitary Pad Distribution Initiative in Kisauni Sub-County
Mombasa Woman Representative Zamzam Mohamed on Tuesday joined learners and teachers at Concordia Primary School in Kisauni Sub-County for the launch of a sanitary pad distribution initiative aimed at promoting menstrual health and safeguarding the dignity of the girl child.
Speaking during the event, Hon. Zamzam reiterated her commitment to advocating for policies and interventions that keep girls in school and address period poverty, which continues to affect learning outcomes for many young girls. She emphasized that access to sanitary towels is a basic necessity and a critical component of girl-child empowerment.
“This initiative is part of our broader agenda to support education, protect the rights of women and girls, and ensure that no child is left behind due to preventable challenges,” she said.
The Woman Representative commended the cooperation of the school administration and teachers, noting that partnerships at the community level are key to achieving sustainable impact. She reaffirmed her commitment to advancing programmes that uplift and empower girls across Kisauni Sub-County and the wider Mombasa County.
The sanitary pad distribution programme forms part of ongoing efforts to promote menstrual health management, improve school attendance, and uphold the dignity and well-being of the girl child.
