CS Eng. Eric Mugaa Holds High-Level Meeting with Tana Water Works Development Agency to Fast-Track Water Projects
The Tana Water Works Development Agency continues to play a critical role in the development, management, and maintenance of national public water and sanitation infrastructure, ensuring sustainable access to clean water and dignified sanitation for communities within its area of jurisdiction.
In line with this mandate, the Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, Eng. Eric Mugaa, held a high-level consultative meeting with the agency’s management team led by Chief Executive Officer Eng. Philip Gichuki, MBS, at the agency’s headquarters in Nyeri.
The meeting focused on accelerating the implementation of ongoing water and sanitation projects across Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi counties. Key among the discussions was the planned groundbreaking for additional works on the Chuka and Chogoria Water Supply Infrastructure project at Kathwana, scheduled for tomorrow.
The Cabinet Secretary urged the agency to fast-track project planning and execution while upholding the highest engineering standards, ensuring value for money, and delivering tangible benefits to wananchi in line with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
Eng. Mugaa commended Eng. Philip Gichuki for his exemplary leadership and stewardship at the agency, noting the positive impact of his work in expanding access to clean water and improved sanitation services across the region.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Tana Water Works Development Agency in delivering transformative water and sanitation infrastructure for the benefit of communities across the region.
