CAK Donates Mobility Equipment to Kenyatta National Hospital, Boosting Hope for Patients
Despite the chilly morning in Nairobi, a spirit of warmth and generosity filled Kenyatta National Hospital as the Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK) donated essential mobility equipment to the facility’s Orthopaedic Department.
Through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, CAK handed over 13 wheelchairs, 14 pairs of crutches, and 15 pairs of aluminum elbow crutches. The assistive devices are expected to significantly enhance patient care by improving mobility and supporting rehabilitation efforts.
The equipment was presented by Ms. Stella Kipsaita, Director of Corporate Communications at CAK, and received by Dr. Robert Miawa alongside Orthopaedic Department Manager Chelimo Ageneta. Hospital officials expressed appreciation for the donation, noting that the additional equipment will help ease pressure on existing resources and benefit patients in need of mobility support.
The contribution was made possible through CAK’s long-standing partnership with the KNH League of Friends, whose collaboration continues to strengthen patient-centered initiatives at the hospital.
Following the handover ceremony, the CAK team toured the hospital’s Orthopedic Technology Department to observe how assistive devices are assessed, customized, and fitted to meet individual patient needs. The visit offered an opportunity to witness firsthand the transformative impact such equipment has in restoring mobility, independence, and dignity.
Hospital representatives emphasized that the donation goes beyond providing equipment. It represents a shared commitment to improving healthcare outcomes and uplifting vulnerable patients.
Together, the partners reaffirmed their dedication to delivering not only essential medical support, but also hope, dignity, and healing to those who need it most.
