Eliud Owalo has resigned from his position as Deputy Chief of Staff, Delivery and Government Efficiency, citing his intention to run for the Presidency of the Republic of Kenya in 2027.
In a statement released today, Owalo said that his current role in government is no longer tenable following his declaration to seek the highest office in the country. “Following my declaration earlier today that I intend to run for the Presidency of the Republic of Kenya in the year 2027, my position as the Deputy Chief of Staff, Delivery and Government Efficiency is no longer tenable. I have therefore resigned from the position with immediate effect,” he said.
Owalo’s resignation marks the formal start of his political campaign and signals his full commitment to contesting the 2027 general elections. His tenure in government has been characterized by a focus on improving service delivery and enhancing government efficiency.
Further details regarding the succession in his office or interim arrangements are yet to be announced by the Presidency.
