Marakwet West MP Hails Family Bank Scholarships, Calls for Expanded CSR in the Constituency
Marakwet West Member of Parliament Timothy Kipchumba on Tuesday oversaw the flagging off of 300 students who have been awarded full scholarships by the Family Bank Group Foundation, following a rigorous vetting process.
The ceremony, held at Moi Forces Academy (MFA) Nairobi, brought together beneficiaries, parents, education stakeholders, and representatives of Family Bank Ltd. The scholarships target bright but needy students from across the country, including several beneficiaries from Marakwet West constituency.
Speaking during the event, MP Kipchumba lauded Family Bank Group Foundation for its commitment to transforming lives through education, noting that the initiative has given hope to students from humble and less fortunate backgrounds.
“Education remains my foremost priority in Marakwet West. These scholarships will go a long way in breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering our young people to realize their full potential,” he said.
The legislator also took the opportunity to engage Family Bank officials, requesting the institution to consider initiating Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects within Marakwet West. The bank welcomed the proposal and expressed willingness to explore impactful partnerships in the constituency.
The event held special significance for MP Kipchumba, who is an alumnus of Moi Forces Academy.
“I was glad to be back where my story started and was eventually written in golden letters. MFA played a key role in shaping who I am today,” he remarked.
He concluded by expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve and for partnerships that uplift communities through education.
“To God be the glory,” the MP said.
The Family Bank Group Foundation scholarship program continues to be a flagship initiative aimed at promoting access to quality education and nurturing future leaders across Kenya.
