Kenya Education Fund Distributes Sanitary Pads to End Period Poverty and Keep Girls in School

In a decisive move to eliminate period poverty and support girls’ education, the Kenya Education Fund (KEF) has distributed 800 sanitary pads at its recent Scholarship Awards. Each recipient received a full year’s supply, ensuring that menstrual health does not become a barrier to learning.

“Menstrual health is essential to dignity, confidence, and staying in school,” said KEF representatives. “When girls are supported, they don’t miss class—they rise, excel, and reach their full potential.”

The initiative reinforces KEF’s commitment to providing holistic support to students, ensuring that young women have access to the resources, scholarships, and mentorship they need to thrive academically.

By addressing period poverty head-on, KEF is removing one of the silent barriers to education and helping to create an environment where every girl has an equal opportunity to succeed
