David Mategwa Celebrates Birthday Amid Landmark Achievements at Police SACCO

David Sohelo Mategwa, the National Chairman of the Kenya National Police DT SACCO, on Monday celebrated another year of life, expressing gratitude to God Almighty for His immense blessings.

Under his stewardship, the SACCO has achieved remarkable milestones in 2025, both nationally and continentally, cementing its reputation as a leading cooperative institution.

Continental and National Leadership

In October 2025, Mategwa was elected Vice Chairman of the African Confederation of Cooperative Savings and Credit Associations (ACCOSCA) during the SACCA Congress in Accra, Ghana, building on his existing role as Vice Chairman of the ACCOSCA Foundation. Earlier in April, the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSMEs Development appointed him National Chairperson of the Kenya Union of Savings and Credit Cooperatives (KUSCCO) for a two-year term.

Strategic and Financial Growth

Mategwa launched the SACCO’s Strategic Plan 2025–2029, targeting an asset base of Ksh100 billion by 2029. Under his leadership, the SACCO projected an asset base of Ksh64 billion and an income of Ksh12 billion by the close of 2025. He also spearheaded a nationwide financial literacy drive, empowering members in investment and debt management across multiple counties.

Infrastructure and Community Projects

Mategwa has overseen significant infrastructure developments. In August 2025, he inaugurated a Ksh60 million saluting dais at the National Police College in Embakasi and initiated a similar project at the GSU Training School. Earlier, in July, a modern gymnasium was unveiled at the National Police College – Main Campus Kiganjo. The Police SACCO Stadium, developed under his guidance, hosted training for the 2025 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).

Beyond infrastructure, Mategwa has championed environmental conservation, with the SACCO planting 15,000 trees in Gilgil and 10,000 trees at the DCI headquarters.

Through strategic vision, national and continental leadership, and commitment to member welfare, David Mategwa continues to steer the Kenya National Police DT SACCO toward unprecedented growth and social impact.
