They say love is blind and that everyone gets salary of his decisions and choices. That saying played out dramatically in Ruiru after a man who allegedly dumped his partner during the December 31 crossover night is now reportedly following the same woman everywhere, begging for forgiveness.

According to residents, the woman was left shattered after the man publicly humiliated her on New Year’s Eve, choosing to walk away at a moment traditionally associated with reflection, reconciliation, and new beginnings. Friends say she spent the first days of January withdrawn and emotionally broken.

Speaking to reporters, the woman said the pain pushed her to seek help after sleepless nights and constant emotional distress.

“I was embarrassed and deeply hurt. He left me like I meant nothing, yet I had stood by him when he had nothing,” she said. “I did not want revenge. I wanted him to feel the pain he caused and to understand what he lost.”

She revealed that after reaching out for help, things changed unexpectedly and rapidly.

“After I made the call and followed the guidance given, I felt calm. Three days later, he started calling nonstop. He came to my gate crying. I could not believe it,” she said.

Residents in Ruiru claim the man has since been seen following the woman to the market, church, and even to visit friends, raising eyebrows and sparking gossip in the area.

Confronted about his sudden change, the man admitted he no longer understood his own behaviour.

“I don’t know what happened to me. I cannot sleep. I cannot focus. Everywhere I go, I think about her,” he said. “I tried ignoring it, but my heart keeps pulling me back to her. I feel restless if I don’t see her.”

He further admitted that dumping her on December 31 now feels like the biggest mistake of his life.

“I was arrogant. I thought I had better options. Now I regret everything. I just want her back, even if it means starting from zero,” he said.

Neighbours say the situation has become so intense that the man recently followed the woman to a family function, openly kneeling and pleading in front of elders. Some described the scene as emotional, while others called it shocking.

The woman says she is taking time before making any decision.
