Speaking at the event, National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) Deputy President Barnaba Korir emphasized the importance of early engagement in sports. “We remain committed to nurturing and supporting young athletic talent across the country,” Korir said. “Events like these provide children with a platform to develop not only their sporting abilities but also essential life skills such as discipline, teamwork, and resilience.”
The race also included elderly participants, reinforcing the event’s ethos of promoting intergenerational interaction and healthy lifestyles for all. The strong turnout highlighted the community’s growing support for youth athletics initiatives and their belief in the power of sports to shape future champions.
Korir further noted that initiatives like the Ng'elel Tarit Kids Athletics are critical in identifying and guiding young talent, ensuring that Kenya continues to build on its rich legacy in athletics. “Investing in our young athletes today is an investment in the future of Kenyan sports,” he added.
