Dr. Oburu Odinga Clarifies Viral Cake Incident at ODM @20 Founders Dinner

 

Dr. Oburu Odinga has issued a formal statement addressing a viral video showing him spitting out a piece of cake presented by the President during the ODM @20 Founders Dinner. The clip, which circulated widely on social media, sparked varied interpretations and online debate.

In his clarification, Dr. Oburu explained that the reaction captured on video was purely a matter of health and not a political gesture or sign of disrespect. He noted that, as a diabetic, he must adhere strictly to dietary restrictions and avoid foods with high sugar content.

According to the ODM party leader, he had requested a sugar-free cake, but an inadvertent mix-up appears to have occurred. Upon tasting the cake, he immediately realized it was not sugar-free and reacted instinctively to avoid compromising his health.

“At my age, diligent management of a medical condition is essential and necessitates consistent compliance with prescribed dietary guidelines,” Dr. Oburu stated, emphasizing that his actions were guided solely by medical necessity.

He expressed confidence that the explanation would put the matter to rest and provide clarity amid the speculation that followed the video’s circulation.
