Uasin Gishu KANU Chairman Kephas Ochieng Mourns Raila Odinga: "A Giant Has Fallen"
Uasin Gishu County KANU Chairman Kephas Ochieng has joined Kenyans and the international community in mourning the passing of former Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Raila Amollo Odinga, calling him “a giant” whose legacy will endure for generations.
In a heartfelt statement issued Tuesday evening, Ochieng expressed his condolences to the Odinga family and praised Raila as a towering figure in Kenya’s democratic journey.
“Let me take this opportunity to send my love, prayers, and condolences to the late family of Rt. Hon. Raila Amollo Odinga,” Ochieng said. “May they find strength during this difficult time. May the legend’s memory be a blessing to us all.”
Describing Odinga as a “legend” and a symbol of the struggle for justice and democracy, Ochieng noted that the world had lost an irreplaceable leader, but one whose spirit and influence will continue to inspire future generations.
“The world is a lesser place without the legend, but their impact will never be forgotten,” he added. “Rest in peace, and may the legend's legacy continue to inspire us.”
The KANU official said that while Raila’s physical presence is gone, his ideas, vision, and the political groundwork he laid will live on.
“A giant has fallen, but their legacy will live on forever. RIP Baba.”
Raila Odinga, a five-time presidential contender and key figure in Kenya’s political transformation over the last three decades, passed away on Monday evening. His death has prompted an outpouring of grief from across the political spectrum, as Kenyans reflect on his role in championing multiparty democracy, devolution, and civil liberties.
National tributes and funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the government in consultation with the Odinga family in the coming days.
