State Honours Underway for the Late Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, Says CS Kipchumba Murkomen
The government has commenced state honours to mark the passing of the towering statesman, the Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, former Prime Minister and a revered national hero.
In a solemn ceremony held at Moi International Sports Complex, Kasarani, Cabinet Secretary for the Interior, Kipchumba Murkomen, paid his final respects after accompanying the late leader’s remains from India.
“Paid my last respects to the man whom I proudly called my mentor at Moi International Sports Complex, Kasarani, after accompanying his remains from India,” said CS Murkomen.
The outpouring of grief sweeping across Kenya is a testament to the profound impact of the late Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga on the nation’s political and social landscape. CS Murkomen appealed to all Kenyans to mourn the departed hero with dignity and in peace, reflecting the values the leader upheld throughout his life.
“The outpouring of grief from across the length and breadth of our nation is understandable, and I would like to appeal to Kenyans to mourn our departed hero in peace and order, which he stood for,” Murkomen stated.
The CS further urged the public to respect the laid-down protocols in the remaining programme to ensure a smooth and dignified State funeral befitting the legacy of the Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga.
“I wish to, therefore, urge all our compatriots to adhere to the protocols laid down for the remaining part of the programme to facilitate the State funeral which the Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga so richly deserves,” he concluded.
The nation continues to unite in honoring one of Kenya’s most influential leaders, whose legacy will inspire generations to come.
