President Ruto launches KSh 3.6 billion Turbo–Panpaper–Makutano–Sikhendu road project, pledges title deeds for Mautuma Central residents
Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera on Thursday hosted President William Samoei Ruto for the official launch of the KSh 3.6 billion Turbo–Panpaper–Makutano–Sikhendu Road Project, a major infrastructure development set to transform transport and trade across Lugari and the wider region.
The long-awaited project, achieved through years of sustained advocacy and partnership between the national government and local leadership, is expected to enhance market access, ease movement of goods and people, and stimulate investment and job creation in western Kenya.
Speaking during the event, President Ruto reaffirmed his government’s commitment to equitable development across all parts of the country, saying the new road will “connect communities, open markets, and drive prosperity for generations to come.”
During the visit, the President also inspected the ongoing construction of the Panpaper ESP Modern Market, one of Lugari’s three flagship market projects. The modern facility, together with Chekalini Market and the soon-to-be-established Lwandeti Market, will feature cold storage units, aggregation centers, and value-addition infrastructure designed to reduce post-harvest losses and empower local farmers and traders.
In addition, the Head of State addressed the long-standing Mautuma Central land ownership dispute, assuring residents that the Ministry of Lands and the Lands Registry will expedite the issuance of title deeds. The move is expected to bring long-awaited relief and economic empowerment to families who have waited for land documentation for decades.
MP Nabii Nabwera welcomed the President’s pledges, terming the day’s events as a “historic victory for the people of Lugari.”
“This road and the other ongoing projects mark the beginning of a new era of transformation for Lugari. Our people’s voices are being heard, and together with the national government, we are delivering tangible progress,” said Nabwera.
The launch underscores the growing collaboration between Lugari Constituency and the national government in driving inclusive and people-centered development. Nabwera reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that ongoing and future projects continue to uplift livelihoods, create opportunities, and secure a prosperous future for all residents.
