Kilifi Deputy Governor Flora Mbetsa Chibule Lays Foundation Stone For Kimbilio Rescue Center Block

Kilifi Deputy Governor Flora MbetsaKi Chibule today led a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new block at Kimbilio Rescue Centre, marking a significant milestone in the county’s efforts to combat Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and promote the safety and empowerment of women and girls.

The project, supported by the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) through Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO), underscores the County Government’s strong commitment to gender equality, dignity, and social inclusion.

Once completed, the new block will feature a kitchen, dining area, counselling room, nursing home, playroom, and courtyard — creating a safe and nurturing environment where survivors of GBV can access comprehensive support services including counselling, legal aid, and healthcare.

Deputy Governor Flora Mbetsa Chibule commended CIFF, SHOFCO, and all development partners for their continued collaboration in empowering women and girls across Kilifi County.

“Today’s milestone is a testament to what we can achieve through partnership and compassion. Together, we are building not just infrastructure, but hope — ensuring that every woman and girl in Kilifi has the opportunity to rebuild her life with dignity,” said DG Chibule.

The initiative aligns with Kilifi County’s broader strategy to eliminate GBV, strengthen social protection systems, and enhance access to essential services for vulnerable populations through the Department of Gender, Culture, and Social Services.
