Kalonzo Hosts Gachagua, Natembeya as DCP Withdraws from Malava By-election
Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Thursday hosted Deputy Chief Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, who also serves as DAP-K deputy party leader, at his Karen residence for high-level political talks.
Sources privy to the meeting said the discussions centered on the upcoming Malava by-election, where the leaders agreed to back a joint candidate. Following the talks, DCP’s Edgar Busiega announced his withdrawal from the race in favor of DAP-K’s Seth Panyako, signaling growing cooperation among the opposition-leaning parties.
Kalonzo hailed the move as “a step toward unity and strategic collaboration ahead of future political contests,” while Natembeya described it as a show of goodwill aimed at consolidating support in Western Kenya.
The Malava by-election is expected to serve as an early test of emerging political alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections.
