Government Boosts Education and Trade Infrastructure in Teso South
By Staff Reporter
The Government is constructing a 340-bed hostel facility at Amukura Teachers Training College (TTC) in Teso South Constituency, Busia County, at a cost of KSh147 million, as part of its broader plan to expand access to quality education and provide students with safe, dignified accommodation.
Similar infrastructure projects are underway in various universities, technical training institutes (TTIs), and colleges across the country, underscoring the government’s commitment to improving the learning environment for students nationwide.
To make Amukura TTC fully operational, the government will invest an additional KSh30 million to complete the remaining works at the institution. This development will enable the college to admit more teacher trainees and strengthen efforts to expand access to quality teacher education in the region.
In a further boost to local development, plans are also in place to construct a modern market in Amukura at a cost of KSh70 million. The new facility is expected to enhance local trade, empower small-scale traders, and stimulate economic growth in the area.
The constituency’s progress has been attributed in large part to the exemplary leadership and tireless dedication of Hon. Mary Otucho Emaase, the Member of Parliament for Teso South, whose consistent advocacy for education and community empowerment has attracted major government investments to the region.
Hon. Emaase has been at the forefront of championing projects that improve livelihoods, create opportunities for youth and women, and foster inclusive economic growth.
Her efforts continue to position Teso South as a model constituency for sustainable development and effective leadership.
