Deputy Speaker Hon. Gladys Boss Shollei Leads Parliamentary Staff in Lively Dance to Kick Off PSC Sports Day
The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Gladys Boss Shollei, today led staff of the National Assembly and the Senate in a lively dance to mark the start of the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) Sports Day at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang’ata, Nairobi County.
Hon. Shollei presided over the official opening of the two-day sports bonanza on behalf of the Speaker of the National Assembly and Chairperson of the PSC, Rt. Hon. Moses Masika Wetang’ula, E.G.H., MP.
The annual event brings together staff from both Houses of Parliament, the Centre for Parliamentary Studies and Training (CPST), and Parliamentary Joint Services to promote wellness, teamwork, and unity within the parliamentary fraternity.
“Sports bring us together beyond our offices and titles,” said Hon. Shollei during the opening ceremony. “They remind us that teamwork, discipline, and shared goals are just as important in the field as they are in service to the nation.”
Staff have been organized into four colour-themed teams — Team Red, Team Black, Team White, and Team Gold — each comprising officers from various departments across Parliament.
-
Team Red includes staff from the Office of the Clerk of the National Assembly, Sergeant-at-Arms, Legal Services, Human Capital and Administrative Services, and Parliamentary Research Services.
-
Team Black features officers from the Office of the Clerk of the Senate, Security and Safety, Finance and Accounting, Engineering and Maintenance, and the Parliamentary Budget Office.

-
Team White consists of staff from the Office of the PSC Secretary, PSC Secretariat, CPST, Catering and Hospitality, Hansard and Audio Services, and Litigation and Compliance.
-
Team Gold comprises officers from the Speakers’ Offices and Committee Services in both Houses, along with staff from the Office of the Director General, Library and ICT, Parliamentary Broadcasting Unit, Internal Audit, and Liaison.
Participants will compete in an array of outdoor sports including athletics, swimming, volleyball, basketball, netball, football, and tug of war, as well as indoor games such as badminton, table tennis, chess, pool, scrabble, and darts.
The event aims to foster a culture of team spirit, wellness, and camaraderie among parliamentary staff, while promoting work-life balance and institutional cohesion.
“The PSC Sports Day is not just about competition — it’s about unity, wellness, and celebrating the people who make Parliament work,” Hon. Shollei added.
The opening dance, filled with energy and laughter, set the tone for two days of spirited competition and fellowship at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
